Cambridge ESOL Certificates

The certificates never expire they are an achievement for life! They show that on a particular date you demonstrated language skills at a specified level.

B2 First Certificate (FCE)
Registrations for the Cambridge exams are made through the school approximately 12 weeks prior to the examination. Cambridge exams held: March, June, July, August & December.
There are two ways to prepare for Cambridge FIRST Certificate at Horner School.
- By attending our Cambridge Preparation Course (26 lessons per week ) at FCE First Certificate level. Students attend a special prep course, with fixed starting and finish dates to prepare for the MAIN Exam dates in March, June, July, August & December. We offer a range of dates and course lengths. The starting dates for all the FCE First Certificate courses are listed on the course page.
- If you can not join one of our “fixed date courses” then it is also possible to reserve the Semi- Intensive 25 course or the Semi Intensive 30 course, both of those courses are available to start on ANY Monday and you can say for 1 or more weeks according to your own availability. The Semi-Intensive courses include a number of private one to one lessons each week, as part of the timetable, so you use those tutorial lessons to focus on the examination preparation.
There are 4 papers, taken on two separate days; papers 1-3 are taken the same day , paper 4 is taken on another day. Click here for more details about the exam format.
Paper 1: Reading & Use of English 1 hour & 15 minutes
Paper 2: Writing 1 hours and 120 min.
Paper 3: Listening 40 min
Paper 5: Speaking 14 min
FCE Cambridge exam is aimed at people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper intermediate level.
It tests your English Level with an emphasis on General Language Skills. This is one of the most well known English language examinations and is widely accepted by employers worldwide.
C1 Advanced (CAE)
Registrations for the Cambridge exams are made through the school approximately 12 weeks prior to the examination. Exams held: March, June, July, August & December.
There are two ways to prepare for Cambridge Advanced at Horner School.
- By attending our Cambridge Preparation Course (26 lessons per week ) at CAE level. Students attend a special prep course, with fixed starting and finish dates to prepare for the MAIN Exam dates in March, June, July, August & December. We offer a range of dates and course lengths.
