What to understand about travelling to Ireland:
All passengers arriving in Ireland must:
- Complete a COVID-19 Passenger Locator Form
- Provide evidence that you already have a negative or ‘not detected’ result from a COVID-19 (RT-PCR) test carried out no more than 72 hours before you arrive into Ireland, or have evidence that you are exempt from this legal requirement.
- All passengers are required to home quarantine (for up to) 14-days at the address specified on COVID-19 Passenger Locator Form. The quarantine period can finish earlier, if the passenger obtains a negative/’not detected’ result of a RT-PCR test to be taken on day 5 or later (after arrival).
- You are allowed to leave your accommodation on day 5 in order to obtain the (second) PCR Test. If the result of that second test is also negative then you may stop your period of home quarantine.
EXTRA requirements for passengers arriving in Ireland from a Category 2 country:
The Irish Department of Health has designated a special list of ‘Category 2’ countries. Any passenger who has been in any of these Category 2 countries in the previous 14 days, even if only transiting through one of these countries and even if remaining within the airport, is legally required to quarantine at a designated facility (mandatory hotel quarantine). This applies even if the passenger receives a negative RT-PCR test result after arriving in the State.
Passengers required to undertake Mandatory Hotel Quarantine must pre-book a place in the designated facility prior to arrival to Ireland. Passengers will be required to present evidence of this booking to their flight or ferry operator in order to board the airplane or ferry to Ireland. Bookings are open and can be made at: www.quarantinehotelsireland.ie
